I recently bought a 1999 Dodge Dakota R/T reg. cab in black. The paint is factory original and is in very good shape. Since I purchased the truck I've buffed out the paint and gave it several coats of Zainos so it looks very good in my humble opinion. The factory R/T decals across the doors and tailgate are red. I've been considering removing them b/c I prefer a more subtle look. I'm concerned that removing these decals may leave a shadow in which case I'm better off just leaving them on.

Has any one removed decals from a vehicle this old and was there a problem such as I've mentioned? Anyone have any experience and more importantly advice on how to proceed? I'd appreciate hearing from you.
